THINGS WE DO FOR MONEY

She glances at the sky and heads into the night

She walks the streets alone under lamps of reddish light

Sells herself cheap co’s she’s lost her self-esteem

Faking sounds of pleasure when really she could scream

What she does she sees just as work

Like stacking shelves or being a filing clerk

If she gets through the night without harm it’s a perk

Chorus

They say money talks but has no voice

They say it gives you power, gives you choice

The things people do for money seems so funny

He checks them to their cells and locks every door

A dreary night in prospect as he starts his shift once more

Herding men to dinner, counting them like Sheep

Watching while they’re waiting, watching while they sleep

He’s forgotten who’s the con and who’s the screw

He feels like a prisoner on review

Retirement or escape at the end he wish he knew

Money’s with us everyday

We need its power to make our way

It’s in our lives and here to stay, come what may

She heads the group sessions, urging them to talk

Then one to one with patients, listening while they walk

Searching troubled minds, exploring psychic maps

Chancing with their sanity, hoping they won’t snap

She hasn’t time for problems of her own

The job travels with her to her home

At work she spends her time in a crowd but feels alone

Chorus

So funny

It’s only money

ONE OF THESE DAYS          AM

Maybe I could fly to heaven

Sail the stars on a golden ship

Maybe I could sing with angels

Buy a ticket for a two-way trip

Maybe I could tell your fortune

Fill your fingers with diamond rings

Maybe you could find contentment

Maybe you could dance with kings

Chorus

One day I might climb a rainbow

One day I could stand up tall

One day I could bring you with me

One day we could have it all

One of these days, One of these Days,

One of these days, One of these Days,

Maybe I could build an empire

Put you on a gilded throne

Maybe we could see tomorrow

See it happen in a wishing stone

Maybe the earth will stop spinning

Maybe there’s no more sky

Maybe it’s all for nothing

Maybe the sun will die

Maybe we will live forever

Maybe I could learn to fly

Maybe you could say you’re sorry

Maybe you could learn to lie

One of these days (I might climb a rainbow)

One of these days (I might stand up tall)

One of these days (I could bring you with me)

One of these days (We could have it all)

Repeat

THE HALLS OF VALHALLA

I’ve been seeking and searching over and under

For paradise, heaven and places of wonder

But always I hear whispers of the northern sky

I’ve asked men of the cloth, prophets and priests

Clerics and Shaman from west to the east

But still I hear whispers of the northern sky

I’m looking for answers for someone to tell me

Where have I come from, what is my destiny?

Is there any truth in the whispers of the northern sky?

There do I see everything before me

The wind sweeps away the clouds of uncertainty

There do I find the answers to the questions of my heart

Bridge

There do I see my father and my mother

There do I see my sisters and my brothers

There is the line of my family back to the start

Chorus

In the Halls of Valhalla we will all live together

In the Halls of Valhalla together forever

The Halls of Valhalla are bidding me welcome home

I hear stories of ships that sail to the sun

Of mighty men and heroes, deeds that are done

So now I journey to the northern sky

I hear whispers of Odin, a house of immortality

Twelve fierce maidens, true perpetuality

Forwards I journey to the northern sky

I leave all behind me, the symbols of my past

On last voyage, forwards, straight and fast

On wards I journey to the northern sky

Bridge

Chorus

  Chorus

SHE’S NOT HOME TODAY

She held court, they all came to worship

She has them all at the end of her fingertips

She cared for nothing, she didn’t need anyone

She thought of love as a tool to have some fun

Bridge

Rejection came and it ripped her heart away

She withdrew to a life of disarray

Thus began her fall from grace

Her life now an empty space

Chorus

Her mind swims in dark, lonely places

All she sees is pale hollow faces

The spark is gone, the light it has faded

Her world is now empty and shaded

She’s not home today

Her mind is far away

She’s not home today

She’s not home today

She captured hearts, then reduced them to nothingness

Disdain for others, a product of her selfishness

She lost her heart to someone who didn’t care for her

He did the damage, then fled just like a saboteur

HYPOCRITES BALL

There’s a soap box and a shaken hand

A world of hope built on shifting sand

Get on your knees, here’s a full cup

You take a sip, well its bottoms up

There’s a long table and a rising chart

It’s the fifth floor full of cold hearts

Bridge

We circle high just to pick the bones

We tread lightly over sticks and stones

I need more room; I need to keep my space

Excuse me mister but you’re in my place

Chorus

A warm welcome to one and all

Choose your partners for the Hypocrite’s Ball

We’re glad you’re here, glad you heard the call

Mark your cards for the Hypocrite’s Ball

Stand in line to creep and crawl

There’s no dancing at the Hypocrite’s Ball

You’re not too large or not too small

To take your place at the Hypocrite’s Ball

Complete a form and you sign your name

There’s a long queue and you state your claim

Take a clean page and print a half truth

Who needs fact, who needs proof?

Take a black book and an oath sworn

A cause to serve and a cause to scorn

Bridge

Chorus

MIRROR ON THE WALL

Good morning friend, welcome to another new day

With you in my life I’ll take whatever comes my way

It’s good to see you, you look very well

You have a mystical magical spell

Tell me of tomorrow

Tell me of your sorrow

Chorus

Mirror on the wall, tell me what you see

Mirror on the wall, tell me what will be

I look in the mirror but all I see is me

I look in the mirror but all I see is me

Good evening friend, I’ve missed your familiar face

The thought of you and I hurry back to this place

We talk in silence, we converse with our eyes

We have no secrets, no need to tell lies

Tell me of tomorrow

Tell me of your sorrow

Chorus

Refrain

Looking through a portal to a private domain

Drawn to an inner vision time and again

A window of reflection showing pleasure and pain

Can you see through me?

Do you see what I see?

Good night old friend, parting is such sweet sorrow

Try not to fret, I’ll see you first thing tomorrow

One last look to take to my sleep

One last thought or a secret to keep

Tell me of tomorrow

Tell me of your sorrow

Chorus

                           I see a fantasy, I see a mystery (mystery!)

I SOLD MY SOUL

I had the chance to reach for the sky

But I was caught by the serpent’s eye

He showed me things I have never seen

I was hypnotized, I was caught in between

He led me down with an invisible hand

He told me things I didn’t understand

Bridge

His eyes were deep, full of darkness and fire

He showed me everything my heart desired

Chorus

I sold my soul, my pride as well

Now I’ve nothing else left to sell

My price was high but I sold it cheap

Now I’ve nothing else left to keep

I sold my soul

I sold my soul

His voice was sweet, full of magic and wonder

His whisper soft, I was sinking under

He promised much, I was dazzled and mystified

I should have turned to consult and to rectify

He told me virtue was a fool’s paradise

Love and honor, a vain sacrifice

Bridge

Chorus

His smile was bright, reflecting malevolence

His fangs were sharp, consuming my innocence

Bridge

Chorus

Ooooh, I sold my soul

Ooooh, I sold my soul

WONDERFUL PLACE

What is this place that everyone’s been looking for?

Where is this place that has no roof or door?

Shangri-La, Babylon, Paradise, Avalon

I’ve heard of this place that has no sea or shore

I dream of this wonderful place

I’m searching for this wonderful place

Is there such a wonderful place?

This place is somewhere that others have already been

A place to find but with eyes that cannot be seen

The Sunken City, the Golden Shrine, The Lost Ark, King Solomon’s Mines

I’ve asked many people but they don’t know what I mean

I hope to find this wonderful place

I want to see this wonderful place

I’ll keep on looking for this wonderful place

A mundane day, I was in no particular place

It was there that I first came upon your smiling face

You looked at me with the sun in your eyes

A look from you and I was hypnotized

It was there I was caught in your warm embrace

I stumbled into a wonderful place

You drew me in with your open arms

You enveloped me with your golden charms

I knew I’d found this wonderful place

With you I’m in a wonderful place

I’ve never been to this place before

I’d like to stay here forever more

I won’t leave this wonderful place

Love is such a wonderful place X3

Love is such a wonderful place (it’s wonderful) X3

HE DIDN'T CALL ON ME

I never see him there when the pushers take their money

He’s not around to comment when the hookers call you honey

I’ve never seen him present when the jackals think it’s funny

I wonder why, look to the sky

He always calls around when the silver bells are ringing

He’s usually right behind when our hearts feel like singing

When there’s good news around you can probably find him mingling

I wonder why, look to the sky

Chorus

Don’t talk to me about hoping

Don’t talk to me about faith

Don’t talk to me about believing

He didn’t call on me, he didn’t call on me

He didn’t pay a visit when Hitler’s boys were lying

He didn’t raise his head when the shells and bombs were flying

He didn’t show himself when the innocents were dying

I wonder why, look to the sky

He always says hello when the girls are dressed in white

He’s always there in person when the time seems just right

He’s always at the doorstep when the darkness turns to light

I wonder why, look to the sky

Chorus

Was his TV off when the tutsi’s were all pleading?

Was he out of town when the victim’s were all bleeding?

Was he out to lunch when the starving should be feeding?

I wonder why, look to the sky

He’s out every year when nature starts its growing

He’s there on the spot when beauty has its showing

He usually gets the credits when the praise starts a-flowing

I wonder why, look to the sky

Chorus

He didn’t call on me

He didn’t call, he didn’t call

He didn’t call on me,

He didn’t call on me

Repeat

LAST NIGHT

My heart stopped a beat when she walked in the room

A light in my darkness, she lifted the gloom

Did we once meet in a life long before

A feeling of déjà vu as she walked through the door

Time stood still, no one else was there

The minute our eyes met she answered my prayer

My innermost feelings came up from my heart

Exploded from my body and hit her like a dart

Bridge

Last night just couldn’t be true

Last night was the first time I knew

Last night I saw without eyes

Last night was such a surprise

Chorus

Before last night I didn’t know love could exist

Before last night I didn’t know what I had missed

Before last night I didn’t know I was alive

Now without love I don’t think I can survive

She took me to a world of ecstasy and bliss

I didn’t know there was a place such as this

Spiritual metamorphosis, the boy in me shorn

A night to remember, a new man born

Last night my old life departed

I’ve been to that holy place where all life is started

I went out looking for warmth and affection

I came back complete with my own resurrection

Bridge

Chorus

Last night, last night, last night, last night

  Chorus

I WOULDN'T GO BACK

I look back on my travels; I’ve sailed on the seven seas

I remember the forests, the sunsets and the summer breeze

Sunrise on the desert and moonlight on an artic bay

But I wouldn’t go back if it changed where I am today

Heard the song of the whales, it sounded like an angel’s choir

Seen shooting stars and rainbows, tidal waves and mountains on fire

Seen things so amazing, been frozen with wonder and fear

But I wouldn’t go back if it was anywhere else but here

Chorus

I wouldn’t go back

I wouldn’t go back

Shared a meal under starlight with descendents of ancient kings

I’ve seen so many places; I’ve felt at times I must have wings

I’ve joined with the brothers; been blinded by the sacred vow

But I wouldn’t go back if it was any other time but now
